Hatfield & Lafleche
This Halifax based duo offers a unique instrumentation of vocals, guitar, bass, and baritone saxophone. These seasoned players began their collaboration on the fall of 2016 and are presently working on material to take in the studio this winter. Their diverse musical backgrounds make for unique original material as well as arrangements of folk, roots, country, and blues repertoire.
Dawn Hatfield & JF Lafleche
Dawn has been active as a musician, composer, and music educator on the East Coast of Canada since the 1990's.
Her varied musical interests have provided her with a broad spectrum of musical experiences. Dawn has received both an East Coast Music Award (1998) and a Juno Award (1999) as part of the Johnny Favourite Swing Orchestra. In addition to her duo with JF Lafleche, Hatfield & Lafleche, she also performs with The Back Alley Big Band, Maple Blues Award winning Shirley Jackson and her Good Rockin' Daddys, and the Upstream Ensemble. Dawn was also a saxophonist in Frank MacKay's R&B Allstars until Mackay's passing in 2019.
JF, originally from Ottawa, made his way to Halifax over a decade ago and now is an East Coaster. He is known for his fine ability of travis picking and fingerstyle guitar performance. In addition to his fine picking, he also demonstrates his chops playing blues and swing as the guitarist in Shirley Jackson's Band, The Good Rockin' Daddy's.
